Our opening batter, Aiden Markram, played a match-winning knock against Gujarat Titans (GT) to help us register a hat-trick of wins, our fourth overall in IPL 2025 on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 181, Markram showcased his brilliance as he dominated the GT bowlers to score a quick-fire 58 off just 31 balls at our fortress, the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Opening the batting with our captain Rishabh Pant, Markram hammered nine fours and one maximum, which laid the foundation for our successful run chase.

During his impressive knock, Markram forged a 65-run opening stand with skipper Pant, and later added 58 runs with Nicholas Pooran for the second wicket.

Our Caribbean southpaw, Pooran, also continued his sensational form with a 34-ball 61, as we chased down the target in 19.3 overs and secured a commanding victory at home.

For his match-defining knock, Markram was later adjudged the Player of the Match in Lucknow.

“Initially in the competition I was thinking I need to remodel my game (smiles),” our stylish opener said at the post-match presentation.

“I think it (the pitch) did change a bit. It was slightly on the slower side in the first innings under the sun. It got better once the lights came on and we were on the right side of the toss,” he added.

Meanwhile, Markram has already amassed 202 runs in six matches in IPL 2025 at a strike rate of 153.03, with two half-centuries to his name.

Playing in his 50th IPL match, the 30-year-old has scored 1,197 runs at an average of 30.69 and a strike rate of 133.15. He has slammed seven fifties in the Indian T20 League.

With four wins and two losses, we are currently placed third on the IPL 2025 standings with eight points from six matches.

Having registered a hat-trick of wins, we will aim to continue our winning streak against Chennai Super Kings in our upcoming IPL 2025 clash at our home on Monday.
