It was inevitable! Our pace sensation Mayank Yadav is back from injury and has already earned his maiden national team call-up.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced the Indian team for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh and the 15-man shortlist features our 22-year-old dynamo.

Playing in Lucknow colours, Mayank Yadav burst onto the scene in the IPL 2024 with his raw pace and decimated Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in his first two IPL matches.

He consistently clocked over 150 kmph and picked up three wickets in each outing to become the first cricketer in the IPL to win Player of the Match awards in his first two matches.

Mayank’s massive impact saw him earn plaudits from former players as well as fans as calls for his inclusion into the Indian team echoed through social media.

Unfortunately, though, Mayank’s season was cut short due to injury as he had to be sidelined with a side strain after just four matches, which saw him pick up seven wickets at an average of 12.14 and an astonishing strike rate of 10.42.

His best figures were 3/14 against RCB - a match during which he also clocked one of the fastest deliveries in IPL history with a 156.7kmph thunderbolt.

Following his injury Mayank has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and has already regained full fitness. Considering his talent and what the youngster brings to the table, the selectors wasted no time to fast-track his inclusion into the national tea,

Mayank will have fellow LSG teammate Ravi Bishnoi for company in the Indian squad for the Bangladesh series.

The first T20I of the India vs Bangladesh series is set to be played on October 6 in Gwalior. New Delhi will host the second rubber on October 9 before the caravan moves to Hyderabad for the final match of the series on October 12.

We eagerly await Mayank’s international debut in India colours.
