LSG buy 12 players on day 2 of IPL 2025 Mega Auction; Akash Deep most expensive purchase at ₹8 crore
Lucknow Super Giants finished day 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Mega Auction at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Monday with 12 new additions to the squad.
Our first buy on day 2 of the Mega Auction saw us secure the services of fast bowler Akash Deep, who is currently a part of the Indian squad for the ongoing Border–Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings also registered their interest in buying Akash Deep but a ₹8 crore bid was enough to ensure that the Indian pacer will be a Super Giant heading into the new IPL season.
Batter Himmat Singh became the second addition to our squad on day 2 after a ₹30 lakh bid, which was also his base price.
Bowler Manimaran Siddharth was our third acquisition of the day and he will be returning to the LSG camp once again after we outbid the likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals with a ₹75 lakh bid.
The next spinner to join our ranks on Monday was Digvesh Singh, who we roped in for his base price of ₹30 lakh.
All-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed had plenty of interest with both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals keen to add him to their squad. However, a ₹2.4 crore bid by us sealed the deal and made him a part of the LSG squad.
Bowler Akash Singh was our sixth purchase of day 2 and we got him for his base price of ₹30 lakh.
Like Manimaran Siddharth, another bowler who will be returning to the LSG camp once again is West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph after we exercised our Right to Match (RTM) option to keep him for a price of ₹75 lakh.
The young duo of Prince Yadav and Yuvraj Chaudhary were our next two buys at the Mega Auction courtesy of successful ₹30 lakh bids for each of them.
Our final three buys at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction were all-rounder Rajvardhan Hangargekar, the returning Arshin Kulkarni and South African Matthew Breetzke.
While Rajvardhan Hangargekar and Arshin Kulkarni, who was a part of the LSG squad last season, were bought for ₹30 lakh each, Matthew Breetzke was purchased for ₹75 lakh.
Day 1 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction witnessed us buy seven players with Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant stealing the headlines after being purchased for ₹27 crore, which made him the most expensive player in IPL history.
David Miller (₹7.5 crore), Aiden Markram (₹2 crore), Mitchell Marsh (₹3.4 crore), Avesh Khan (₹9.75 crore), Abdul Samad (₹4.2 crore) and Aryan Juyal (₹30 lakh) were our other buys on day 1 of the auction.
Our 19 buys over the course of the two-day Mega Auction will now join our five retained players - Nicky P, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni as we build up towards IPL 2025 with Gazab Andaz.
