Our boys continued our brilliant form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as we secured a comprehensive six-wicket win over Gujarat Titans at our fortress, the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, on Saturday.

Opting to bowl first, our bowlers made an impressive fightback to restrict the Titans to 180/6 in 20 overs. Shardul Thakur and Ravi Bishnoi were our wreckers-in-chief with two scalps apiece.

Later, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram slammed match-winning fifties to guide us to our fourth victory in IPL 2025.

A challenging start

Despite best efforts from our bowlers, Titans’ openers Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill got them off to a great start. Gill and Sudharsan hit fifties as the duo forged a 120-run stand for the opening wicket.

Super Giants’ brilliant fightback

Our star pacer Avesh Khan later provided us with a much-needed breakthrough as he claimed the huge wicket of opposition captain Gill, courtesy of a briliant catch by Aiden Markram in the 13th over.

Our spin wizard Ravi Bishnoi soon joined the party as he removed Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar in the following over.

We restrict Titans to 180

We continued to chip in with wickets as our spin sensation Digvesh Rathi dismissed Jos Buttler to reduce the Titans to 145/4.

Later in the final over, our experienced all-rounder Shardul Thakur trapped Sherfane Rutherford in front of the stumps, and then removed Rahul Tewatia to restrict the Titans to 180/6 in their 20 overs.

With those two wickets, Shardul completed his milestone of 200 wickets in T20 cricket.

Pant, Markram provide fiery start

Chasing 181, captain Rishabh Pant opened our innings with in-form Aiden Markram. Our new opening pair slammed the GT bowlers to all parts of the ground to put the pressure back on the visitors. Markram and skipper Pant added 61 runs in the powerplay. However, we later succumbed to a huge blow as Pant fell for 21.

Markram, Pooran continue the assault

Our flamboyant southpaw Nicholas Pooran joined Markram at the crease. Markram and Pooran continued the onslaught as our dynamic duo smashed some scintillating shots. Later in the 10th over, Markram brought up his fifty off just 26 balls, his second half-century in two games at our fortress. Markram later departed for a well-made 58.

Despite losing Markram at the other end, Nicky P continued his sensational form as he notched up his third fifty in IPL 2025, this time off just 23 balls.

Our Caribbean star soon reclaimed the Orange Cap after he clobbered Washington Sundar for a maximum in the 15th over. Our hard-hitting southpaw has already amassed 349 runs in six matches at an average of 69.80 and a strike rate of 215.43.

Hat-trick of wins

Pooran's dazzling knock of 61 runs ended in the 16th over as he fell to Rashid Khan. His match-defining knock was laced with one four and seven maximums.

With 26 needed off 28 balls, David Miller walked out to bat and joined Ayush Badoni at the crease. Our duo added 19 runs before Miller departed in the penultimate over.

Ayush Badoni later remained unbeaten on 28, while Abdul Samad hit a few boundaries in the partnership to guide us to a hat-trick of wins, our fourth overall in IPL 2025.

Having registered our fourth victory in IPL 2025, we leapfrogged to third on the IPL 2025 standings with eight points from six matches.

What next for the Super Giants?

Our Super Giants will eye fourth successive win in IPL 2025 against Chennai Super Kings at our home on Monday.
