Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis found a place in the ICC’s team of the tournament for the T20 World Cup 2024 on the back of their strong showing for West Indies and Australia, respectively.

The ICC picked the best eleven based on the performances of members of all the participating teams during the showpiece event that the United States and the West Indies jointly hosted.

Nicky P topped the charts for the West Indies and was sixth on the list of highest run-scorers in the T20 World Cup 2024. The wicketkeeper-batter aggregated 228 runs from seven matches, including a fifty, at an average of 38.00 and an excellent strike rate of 146.15.

Pooran’s scintillating 98 off just 53 balls against Afghanistan was the highest individual score in this World Cup, powering the Windies to 218/5, the highest aggregate by any team in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Stoinis shone for Australia in the T20 World Cup with both the bat and the ball. He smashed 169 runs from five innings at an average of 42.25 and a strike rate of 164.07. He also scored two crucial half-centuries for Australia in their group-stage matches.

Stoinis was effective with the ball too, picking up 10 wickets from six innings, finishing in the top-20 list of batters as well as bowlers in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Our star duo were part of a team that was dominated by World Champions India, with six of them making it to the T20 World Cup XI.
