Our very own Nicholas Pooran has shattered yet another world record! The West Indies ace, on Friday, became the player to record the most runs in T20 cricket in a single calendar year.

Pooran achieved the milestone while playing for Trinbago Knight Riders against Barbados Royals in the CPL 2024 when he scored a blistering 27 off 15 balls before being dismissed by fellow LSG teammate Naveen ul Haq.

Nicky P now has 2059 T20 runs in 66 matches this year, scored at an average of 42.0 and astonishing strike rate of 160.9. His tally includes the 499 runs in the 14 matches he scored for us in an incredible IPL 2024 campaign, averaging over 62.

Previously, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 2036 runs in 48 matches back in 2021, held the record for the most runs in T20 cricket in a single calendar year previously.

England’s Alex Hales dropped down to third on the list with his tally of 1946 runs in 61 matches in the 2022 season.

A few days back, Pooran also broke compatriot Chris Gayle's record for the most T20 sixes (135) hit in a calendar year.
