Our very own Ravi Bishnoi spun a web around Sri Lankan batters as India won the rain-shortened second T20I by seven wickets at Pallekele on Sunday.

Bishnoi’s match-winning spell of 3/26 from four overs helped the Indian cricket team to win their second match on the trot and take an unassailable lead in the three-match series.

Bishnoi came into the attack after the powerplay and trapped Pathum Nissanka, the top-scorer in the first T20I, in his second over with a wrong one. It was a crucial breakthrough as Nissanka was looking in good nick on 32 and raring to go big.

Though Sri Lanka lost two well-set batters and were placed at 139/4 after 16 overs, the danger was far from over. Bishnoi walked in to bowl his final over and delivered in style, first inducing an edge from Dasun Shanaka onto the stumps.

Off the very next ball, Bishnoi sent back Wanindu Hasaranga with another googly that crashed into the timber. He conceded just three runs in the over to finish with figures of 3/26 and was adjudged Player of the Match.

“I love bowling the wrong ones, and I try to do what works for me. The Wrong ones work against the left-hander. Bowling at the death shows the management trusts me, and I love that responsibility,” said an elated Bishnoi during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Our star leg-spinner had also picked up a wicket in the first T20I to help India win by 43 runs. During the match, Bishnoi suffered a injury to his face while going for a difficult catch of his own bowling.

Though the injury looked serious, Bishnoi continued to bowl after receiving treatment and completed his quota of four overs. The act of grit and determination earned high praise from the fans on social media.
