Lucknow Super Giants’ Yuvraj Chaudhary, Himmat Singh and Avesh Khan hogged the limelight with their brilliant performances for their respective sides in the opening round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 on Saturday, December 21.

New LSG recruit Yuvraj Chaudhary grabbed the headlines after the southpaw slammed a scintillating century for Uttarakhand against Manipur during their Group A opener at the KL Saini Ground in Jaipur.

Opening the innings for Uttarakhand, Yuvraj Chaudhary continued his rich vein of form as he slammed the Manipur bowlers to all parts of the ground.

The 23-year-old left-handed batter later notched up his maiden century in List A cricket. After reaching the incredible milestone, the swashbuckling batter continued attacking as he departed for a 143-ball 151. His knock was laced with 14 fours and four sixes.

Yuvraj Chaudhary’s magnificent ton powered Uttarakhand to 365/4 in their 50 overs. In reply, Manipur were bowled out for 183 in 46.2 overs as Uttarakhand won the game by 182 runs.

Earlier in the recently-concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Yuvraj Chaudhary amassed 234 runs in five games at an average of 58.50 and an impressive strike rate of 168.34.

Another latest addition, Himmat Singh, scored a quick-fire fifty for Delhi in their Group E clash on Saturday.

Put into bat, Himmat Singh hammered 60 off just 57 balls against Bengal at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Batting at No.5, the right-handed batter slammed seven fours and one maximum to help Delhi post 272/7 in their 50 overs.

However, Himmat Singh’s half-century later went in vain as Bengal chased down the target in 41.3 overs to register a six-wicket victory.

Himmat Singh previously accumulated 197 runs in eight matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25.

Meanwhile, LSG star pacer Avesh Khan produced a match-winning spell to guide Madhya Pradesh to a six-wicket win over Bihar in their Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 opener.

Avesh Khan dismissed Piyush Singh, Raghuvendra Pratap Singh and Sachin Kumar to help Madhya Pradesh bundle out Bihar for 196 at the NexGen Cricket Ground in Hyderabad. The right-arm fast bowler finished with brilliant figures of 9-3-21-3.

Later, Madhya Pradesh chased down the target in just 25.1 overs to bag maximum points from the game.
