Biography

Amit Mishra is a leg break bowler who was born and brought up in Delhi. The spinner made his first-class debut for Haryana in the 2000-01 season. He got his maiden call-up for the Indian team for an ODI tri-series in Bangladesh where he made his debut against South Africa on 13th April, 2003. He managed to pick the wicket of Neil McKenzie in that match.

Though he made his ODI debut in 2003 he waited for 5 years until he was picked to play in whites for India. In his first Test match against Australia, he returned with the figures of 7/106.

He became the sixth Indian to bag a 5-wicket haul on his Test debut. He has plenty of international experience under his belt and was also a part of the 2013 Champions Trophy winning side.

Mishra has made his presence felt in the Indian team with his remarkable performance over the years. He has grabbed the opportunity with both hands whenever he was picked for the team. In 22 Tests he has 76 wickets to his tally whereas in 36 ODIs he has picked 64 wickets. He has also been part of the T20I team on 10 occasions in which he earned 16 wickets.

Mishra has been a standout performer with the ball in the IPL as well. He is among the top 5 leading wicket-takers in the IPL. He has played for several teams in the competition and has earned a hat-trick for 3 franchises - Delhi Daredevils (former name of Delhi Capitals) in 2008, Deccan Charges in 20011 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013.
