Biography
A lively seamer who can consistently bowl in excess of 140 kmph, Avesh Khan has firmly established himself among the incredible premier fast bowling talent in India. His rise over the years has been a story of talent blended with grit and determination.
While he is mighty effective with the new ball and can generate extra bounce on tough tracks, the tall and muscular Avesh has many variations in his game which make him a complete package.
Avesh first featured for Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy in the 2014-15 season. He was also a part of the Indian team for the ICC U19 World Cup in UAE that year. However, it was in the 2016 edition of the tournament that Avesh made a name for himself. The Indore Express was India’s highest wicket-taker with 12 wickets in just six matches, while maintaining an impressive average.
The Indore Express, meanwhile, continued to pile on the numbers in the domestic circuit too. The 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season saw him clinch 37 wickets, including a ten-wicket haul.
Avesh was picked up by the Bangalore franchise for the 2017 Indian T20 League. He, later, moved onto the Delhi franchise, for whom he had a ground-breaking campaign in 2021. While he picked up 24 wickets in only 16 matches that season, an economy rate of 7.37 made him a real impact player.
The Madhya Pradesh pacer made his T20I and ODI debuts for India in 2022 on the back of his impressive domestic and franchise cricket performances.
During the mega auction ahead of the 2022 Indian T20 League campaign, Avesh was on boarded at Lucknow Super Giants as he took another giant leap of leading the bowling attack for the side. He successfully added 18 more wickets to his tally in the tournament in that edition.
