Biography
Karun Nair is a 31-year-old right-hand batsman who was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan but later moved to Bangalore with his family at a young age. He made his first-class debut for Karnataka in the 2013-14 season. Nair looked in sublime form in his first-ever Ranji season and scored three consecutive centuries. He proved to be a run machine for the Karnataka Ranji side as he scored runs at an average of more than 50 runs in his first three Ranji seasons.
He started his IPL career at Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013. After his impressive debut Ranji season, he was picked by Rajasthan Royals for the 2014 IPL season. He made the most of the opportunity and scored 330 runs with the help of three fifties in the 11 matches he played that season. He was roped in the Indian Test squad for the away series against Sri Lanka in 2015 but didn’t get a chance to feature in the team.
2016 was a fabulous year for him as it not just turned out to be the best season for him in IPL where he amassed 357 runs but he also made his international debut for the Indian team. In the third Test that he played, he became only the second Indian to score a triple hundred in Test match cricket.
He has got a lot of experience under his belt and has produced 1496 runs that also includes 10 fifties in 76 IPL matches that he has played.
