Biography

A stylish all-rounder hailing from Barbados, Kyle Rico Mayers has quickly grabbed attention of the cricketing world in a very short span. He is a swashbuckling left-handed batsman, who can provide quickfire starts with the bat. The ability to bowl effective medium pace further lifts his stocks.

Mayers’ talents came into the limelight in the 2019-20 season, when he featured for Barbados in the Regional Super50 tournament. He further showcased his power-hitting abilities in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League for the Barbados Tridents.

Courtesy of his impressive displays, Mayers was named as a reserve for West Indies’ tour of England in 2020 before he was handed a T20I debut against New Zealand later in the year. However, an unbeaten 210 on Test debut against Bangladesh, which helped West Indies chase down a mammoth 395, saw him make the headlines.

Mayers hasn’t looked back ever since. The top-notch performances continued at both franchise and international level. Mayers scored 366 runs and picked eight wickets in CPL 2022 for his franchise, while at the international level he continued on his upward trajectory.

Featuring for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian T20 League 2023, Mayers smashed 73 runs off just 38 balls on his tournament debut to kickoff his stint at the franchise in grand fashion.
