Biography
An energetic and exuberant leg spinner, Ravi Bishnoi hails from a remote village in Rajasthan. A leg-spinner, who often bamboozles the batter with his wrong’un. In his initial playing days, there was no real cricket academy, and the opportunities for him were limited. But he along with his friends set up an academy called Spartans Cricket Academy and from there his cricket journey commenced.
After a lot of hard work and determination, Bishnoi finally made it to Rajasthan’s U-19 squad. Gradually, at a young age, he made his T20 debut and List-A debut for Rajasthan in 2019. His breakthrough though came in 2020 when he played for India at the Under-19 World Cup 2020. He grabbed 17 wickets and ended up as the highest-wicket taker in the tournament and stole the headlines for the first time.
Owing to his notable show, he was acquired by Punjab Kings for the IPL in 2020. In his first season, he picked up 12 wickets in 14 matches and continued his impressive performance in the following season by taking 12 wickets this time only in 9 matches. After his stint with Punjab Kings, the leggie was roped in by Lucknow Super Giants for the IPL in 2022. In January 2022, Bishnoi was named in India’s ODI and T20I squad against West Indies. He made his T20I debut against West Indies and grabbed two wickets helping India win that game and was awarded the Player of the Match on his debut as well.
Ahead of the IPL 2023, Ravi Bishnoi was retained by LSG for 4 crores and he continues to shine for the franchise.
